GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Chesterfield Police say around 2:00 a.m. on Friday an officer tried pulling over a 2002 four-door Pontiac on a traffic stop for defective equipment in the 100 block of Turner Road in Chesterfield County.
But instead of stopping, detectives say the car sped away. Police pursued the vehicle into Henrico and Goochland Counties.
Police were forced to use spike strips to stop the speeding car. The chase ended nearly 30 miles away on Route 6, one mile past the James River Correctional Facility in Goochland.
Law enforcement from Chesterfield, Henrico, Richmond, Goochland and Virginia State Police all took part in the pursuit.
Investigators say Daniel Diggs, 24, was the driver. He was taken into custody and charged with eluding police, driving while suspended, defective equipment and altered decals license plate.
