HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police charged a Richmond nanny with Reckless Driving on Private Property and Misdemeanor Child Neglect after investigators said she hit a car seat, with a baby strapped inside, at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Henrico County.

Police said on Wednesday, April 25, at 2:20 p.m., officers were called to the Garden's parking lot after a call indicated a car hit a child and that child was pinned under the vehicle.

When police arrived investigators determined Susannah Phillips, 21, had taken two children in her care to the Gardens for the day. When they left the Garden, police said Phillips placed a 4-month-old child in the car seat  beside the car while she put a 2-year-old child into the car.

Police said Phillips forgot about the infant and hit the car seat with her car when she backed out of the parking spot. When Phillips heard a noise she stopped the car, got out and discovered the 4-month-old child, still in the car seat.

Police said the car seat had turned over and was up against the car's right front tire.

The child suffered minor injuries and is listed in stable condition, police said.

Police said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this case.
