GLOUCESTER, Va. (WTKR) - The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a suspect in an attempted abduction Wednesday.
Gloucester County Sheriff D. W. Warren Jr. said a female juvenile said a man approached her Wednesday afternoon while she was walking in the Founders Mill subdivision, which is in the north section of the county.
The girl said the man asked her if she needed a ride. When she said no, the girl told authorities that the man got out of his truck and chased her on foot into the front yard of a nearby home.
The sheriff said the girl managed to escape when the man slipped and fell into a ditch.
Officials described the suspect's truck as an older model white pickup with several dents and papers scattered across the dashboard.
Several deputies will be patrolling the area, and other neighborhoods, in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles for the next several days.
