REPORT: Richmond gas prices drop 6 cents

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Gas prices dropped 6.2 cents around Richmond over the last week, according to gas price website RichmondGasPrices.com.

The website reported the average price in Central Virginia was $3.82 a gallon.

The national average is $3.85 per gallon.

“Average gasoline prices nationally continue to slowly drop,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “I’ll go on the record and say that come Wednesday, I expect the national average in the U.S. will actually be lower than it was on the same day in 2011. Perhaps looking at the big picture with prices having failed to reach new records so far in 2012, we can restore some gas-sanity in this country,” DeHaan said.

Richmond gas prices are nearly 3 cents per gallon higher than the same day last year, but more than a penny lower than last month.
