CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR)  - The suspect in the weekend murder of a man police found shot to death inside a chesterfield apartment made his first court appearance today. A judge denied bond to Phillip Shaw in a court hearing Monday morning.

Shaw is charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm during a felony in connection with the death of 24-year-old Joe Roane. Police are now confirming Roane's body was discovered inside the Waterside Apartments in the 6400 block of Wooded Glen Court. Officers discovered the body Saturday afternoon after police received an anonymous tip requesting  the apartment be checked.

Officers say Shaw lives in the apartment where the body was discovered. A second man, Dustin Beaston, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

CBS 6 spoke with family members yesterday, who say while the arrests provide some relief they are  still left with many unanswered questions. They say Roane had gone out to a birthday party Friday night at a Japanese restaurant in Midlothian, saying that after having had several drinks, Roane shared a cab with Dustin Beaston. They say The last time anyone heard from Roan, he called a friend saying he was at a party at Shaws' and wanted to leave because a fight broke out.
