RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)- Richmond police have arrested a man they say caused a scene outside of police headquarters Saturday night, then led them on a chase down Interstate 64.

Police say the man, who is known to them to have a history of mental illness, was first seen acting erratically outside of police headquarters downtown. The man was armed with a firearm, police say.

When officers tried to approach him, the man got in his vehicle and took off, leading police to give chase.

The pursuit was terminated when the suspect got on the on ramp going the wrong direction on Interstate 64, but officers later resumed the pursuit and made the arrest in eastern Henrico County.

No one was injured.

The suspect, whose name is not being released, is charged with brandishing a firearm and felony eluding the police.
