HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -  Investigators said a morning fire at an eastern Henrico tire shop was arson, according to a statement from Henrico Fire Capt. James Mellon.

Mellon said Henrico Police officers were called to Tire Station in the 4400 block of Nine Mile Road around 1:00 a.m. Friday to investigate a burglary.

Inside the building, officers saw flames and were able to use a fire extinguisher to keep the fire from spreading. Investigators later determined someone poured a flammable liquid on a filing cabinet inside the business.

Mellon said the original burglary report was called in by the owner of the Tire Station, who was monitoring his business from home via surveillance and noticed the camera was inoperable.

The owner reportedly went to check on the surveillance system, and upon arriving at his store, he saw the suspected burglar leaving the scene.

Henrico Police are still investigating the incident.
