VSU student wanted for murder near campus

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Chesterfield Police announced Thursday they obtained warrants for Ryan Christopher Simms, 19, for murder, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with Tuesday's deadly shooting near Virginia State University. Police said Simms is a student at VSU.

Police consider Simms armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows where Simms can be found is asked to call Chesterfield Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.

Police also arrested Artarrius Jamarr Stepter, 20, on a charge of brandishing a firearm, also in connection to the shooting. Stepter is also a student at Virginia State University, according to police.
