RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond  Police have arrested the man they say is responsible for the deaths of two brothers in Richmond.

20 year old Randy L. Trent, of the 700 block of Stockton Street, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Police tell CBS 6 that additional charges are pending.

Police said a dispute between neighbors led to the double shooting and later deaths of brothers Ahkeem Philips, 28, and Ahmad Phillips, 24. They were shot and killed around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday inside the Tobacco Factory Apartments along the 700 block of Stockton Street in South Richmond.

Detectives said they believed the motive for these shootings was a dispute between neighbors.

One man who lives in the loft building told CBS 6 reporter Jerrita Patterson that the dispute was over dog waste. Multiple sources with the Richmond Police Department told CBS 6 a dog was going to the bathroom inside the building. A police source told CBS 6 the dog did not belong to the men who were shot and killed.

Patterson saw Richmond Animal Control remove a pit bull puppy from the building around 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Police would not yet confirm whether a dog was at the center of the dispute.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
