HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Denny Hamlin will bring his Short Track Showdown back to Richmond International Raceway Thursday night April 26th to kick off RIR’s spring racing weekend.Once again, proceeds will benefit the Denny Hamlin Foundation which primarily funds Cystic Fibrosis research.
Fifty-two cars will qualify for the 36 car field. At least 12 celebrity drivers will run alongside 24 of the best Late Model drivers from Central Virginia. In addition to Denny racing himself, here’s a list of some of the other stars scheduled to compete:
Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Jeff Burton, Michael Waltrip, Aric Almirola, Chesterfield’s Jason White from the Camping World Truck Series and former Nationwide series driver and Virginia native Curtis Markham who is Hamlin’s former spotter in the Sprint Cup series.
The race will be 75 laps long with a break after lap 50. Tickets are just $25, and children under 12 are free. For more information, log on to dennyhamlinfoundation.org.
