RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – The CEO of Sportsquest in Chesterfield has stepped down.

Chesterfield County officials tell CBS 6 that Steve Burton, who lead the charge for the sprawling sports facility off Genito Road, has resigned.

Meanwhile, the complex remains in financial turmoil.

Today’s announcement comes less than a week after the fitness center was shut down. Members who had pre-paid for services were promised reimbursements, but many are still waiting to receive compensation.

Chesterfield County spent $4.3 million dollars to help in the construction of Sportsquest.
