Authorities: 16-year-old Stafford teen sprayed racial slur on church

STAFFORD, Va. (WTVR) – The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that a 16-year-old has been charged in connection with a vandalism incident at a Stafford church.

Deputies were called to Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church at 135 Chapel Green Road on Sunday, March 4 for a report of vandalism.  Deputies found a racial slur spray painted on the back wall of the church.

Detective Greg Bender, from the Special Investigations Unit, investigated the incident and, that the 16-year-old male was charged, according to a news release.

The first charge, 1 Count of Entering the Property of Another for the Purpose of Damaging, is a Class 6 felony because of the racial slur.

The boy was also served two juvenile petitions. The two petitions are 1 Count of Entering the Property of Another for the Purpose of Damaging and 1 Count of Injuries to a Church or Church Property.
