(CNN) – Chocoholics rejoice! A new study at the University of California, San Diego found those who ate chocolate on a regular basis had a lower body mass index, or BMI.
And, the lower BMI group did not eat fewer calories or exercise more than their heavier counterparts.
It seems chocolate’s properties to increase your metabolism may offset the calories consumed.
Despite the sweet news, the head researcher warns that doesn’t mean you “can eat unbounded amounts of chocolate.”
The study is published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
