Fuel-efficient vehicles star at motor show

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) Thousands turned to the International Auto Show this weekend to see the latest makes and models from top manufactures’.

They represent a small sample of consumers that have helped the auto industry see substantial sales growth in the first two months of 2012.

According to the National Auto Dealers Association, the industry has seen a 13.8% growth in 2012 compared to 2011 sales data from the same time period.

The NADA said that the 2012 sales volume of small cars has seen a 23 %increase over last year, medium size cars a 26% increase and hybrid cars, a 47% increase.

Today at the auto show, they've noticed an increased focus on smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles.
