Flash flood watch for southwestern Virginia Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch into this evening for Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Halifax & Pittsylvania counties.

Sections of these counties received 2-5 inches of rainfall on Saturday.  Additional showers and thunderstorms today will create more isolated flooding.

A flood warning has also been issued for the Roanoke River.  Additional details can be found in the warnings section at the top of the weather page, and through theNational Weather Service’s river forecast site.

Rain threat will diminish overnight, and skies will clear by daybreak Monday.  Much of the coming week will be dry.
