RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Widespread dense fog has again developed overnight in central Virginia, reducing visibilities below a quarter-mile to near-zero in places. Skies cleared aloft after scattered strong thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and evening in the area, leaving fresh moisture at the ground to help fog form. Winds are light to calm, which also prevents mixing of the air near the surface and keeps the fog in place. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. for many of the same areas impacted the past few days with morning fog. However, as of 6:50 a.m., the Richmond and Petersburg Metro Areas have been removed from the advisory early. Fog is not as dense in these areas, but visibilities are still about a mile or less.

Remember during your commute to slow down, use your headlights (low beam setting), allow extra distance between you and surrounding vehicles, and limit in-car distractions (like loud music, cell phones, etc).
