We’re still 10 days away from the big race, but there continues to be a signal for a surge of cold air arriving on March 31st, the day of the Monument Ave 10K.
Two of the more reliable medium range operational weather models are showing a strong Canadian high moving from the Northern Plains to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. If this pattern were to verify, temps during the race could range from 42-48 degrees. That range is by no means unusual or even really considered cold for the last day of March, but it will be a big departure from the stretch of relatively warm mornings we have been seeing, and will continue to experience up until race day.
As a runner, I’m glad to see the colder weather, and even in the low 40s, we’d be warmer than it was last year. I’ll continue to have updates each day as the race approaches. -Zach
