A bill that would allow Virginia homeowners to use deadly force against intruders without fear of being sued has been killed by the House of Delegates.

The move was surprising because the bill was expected to easily pass.

The bill’s sponsor, delegate Dickie Bell asked his GOP counterparts to kill the bill and discuss it again next year.

He says he wants more time to look over the legislation and improve it.

If passed, the bill would’ve protected homeowners from civil liability if they wounded or killed someone illegally entering their home.

More than twenty-states currently have some form of Castle law on the books.
