Overnight robberies near VCU campus

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Police are looking for suspects after two overnight robberies near the Virginia Commonwealth University Monroe Park campus. Both incidents happened a little before midnight.

The first occurred right near Cary and Harrison streets. Richmond police tell CBS 6 two men robbed a man. As the suspects left one fired a gunshot in the air, according to Richmond Police Captain Paul Kiniry.

The second robbery took place just minutes later, eight blocks away on Cary Street.

Two people were held up at gunpoint and robbed.

Nobody was injured in either robbery.

Investigators believe the two robberies are related, but both Richmond and VCU police could not find the suspects.

Police tell us they’re looking for three black men in their 20’s in an older model green Honda.

One of the suspects was wearing a mask and green hoodie with a green and brown checkered design. Another suspect was wearing dark colored clothing and had a beard.
