State police arrest Louisa officer accused of fraud

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia State Police arrested a Louisa County man accused of felony misrepresentation, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar.

The suspect, Mark McGhee, 31, of Louisa County, was listed as a sergeant with the Town of Louisa Police Department, reported WCAV in Charlottesville.

Sgt. Molnar said McGhee was arrested Feb. 24, 2012, after investigators looked into a tip that McGhee was "involved in alleged financial misrepresentation regarding the Trevilians Volunteer Fire Department Fund."

McGhee's arraignment on one felony count of misrepresentation is scheduled for March 8, 2012.

McGhee was named 2010 Law Enforcement Officer of the year by the Louisa County Crime Solvers, reported WCAV. [Read more]
