SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WTVR) – While Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum were focusing on the results of the primaries in Michigan and Arizona, Ron Paul was speaking to a packed house in Northern Virginia.

Nearly two thousand people packed in to a ballroom in Springfield. Fire marshals turned away another 500 because the room was too full.

“”It’s very appropriate that the state of Virginia be involved in our revolution that’s going on,” said the congressman.

Paul has not finished first in a primary or caucus in the nominating process so far. When Virginians vote on March 6th as part of Super Tuesday, only he and Romney will be on the ballot. Santorum and Newt Gingrich failed to submit enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.

Paul said Tuesday that he’s concentrating his campaign on states where he can most effectively use his resources, but his message will be the same wherever he goes.

“We’re still winning a lot of delegates, and that’s what counts.”

The GOP candidates have to win 1,144 delegates to clinch the nomination. On Super Tuesday, Virginia and nine other states will award more than 400, by far the largest single-day haul.
