Police: Armed man tried to rape teen in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Police are looking for a man wanted in connection to an attempted sex assault of a teen Wednesday in Richmond's Southside.

The 13-year-old girl told police she was walking home around 3 p.m. when a man with a gun walked up to her the 2700 block of Alexander Avenue.

She said the man forced her to go down a gravel road and then pushed her down and tried to rape her.

CBS 6 spoke with the girl’s mother and she tells us, the suspect groped her daughter and left several bruises on her neck from kissing.

Police said the victim was able to fight off the man and run for help.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male weighing about 200 pounds with a light complexion with acne bumps. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a collar, black pants and black boots. The suspect also wore glasses.
