Shots fired at Virginia SWAT team during overnight standoff

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Shots were fired at a Virginia State Police tactical team during an early morning standoff, Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar confirmed to CBS 6. No one was injured in the shooting.

State Police ended the standoff around 5:00 a.m. Friday when troopers entered the Dinwiddie County home and arrested James E. Taylor.

Taylor, 36, of Dinwiddie County, was charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer, Felony Domestic Assault, resisting arrest and Child endangerment, Molnar wrote in an email.

Molnar said around midnight a sergeant with the Dinwiddie  County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home on Boydton Plank Road for a “domestic situation.”

At the home a Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office sergeant got into a struggle with Taylor. The sergeant suffered minor injuries and Taylor retreated into the home starting the standoff.
