PETERSBURG, VA (WTVR) – Petersburg fire investigators remain on scene nearly 10 hours after an early morning fire killed a two year old girl Monday morning.
Petersburg Battalion Chief Bobby Harvell said the fire started in a trailer at the Spring Garden Trailer Court just after midnight.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
There were four people inside, two adults and two children.
One of the children was not able to get outside and passed away.
The Red Cross is helping the family find a place to stay.
Friends of the family told CBS 6 they planned to establish a fund to raise money so the family can replace some items destroyed in the fire.
