Michelle Obama to visit veterans in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - First Lady Michelle Obama will visit veterans in a Richmond hospital on Wednesday.

After attending a Democratic National Committee lunch, the First Lady is scheduled to travel to VCU, home of VCU Medical Center, to announce a major commitment by the country's top medical colleges. The announcement pertains to the care of American service men and women suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.

Obama is also scheduled to tour the polytrauma unit at McGuire VA Medical Center where she will meet with wounded veterans.

From Richmond the First Lady will travel to Charlottesville where she will speak at a DNC reception. Michelle Obama is also scheduled to attend a fundraiser at the Charlottesville-area home of Dave Matthews Band drummer Carter Beauford. Newsplex.com in Charlottesville reports tickets for that event cost $1,500 with the money going to the Obama Vistory Fund.
