Gov. McDonnell has been appointed outside counsel after Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli recused himself from the felony embezzlement case of former Executive Mansion chef.
Governor McDonnell’s eldest daughter was married over the weekend in Virginia Beach.
Gov. Bob McDonnell talked with CBS 6 about the ongoing controversy involving his relationship with GOP donor and Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams Sr.
A judge ruled Ken Cuccinelli can be recused from the embezzlement case involving former Executive Mansion chef Todd Schneider.
Former executive chef Todd Schneider is accused of embezzlement – stealing food and supplies from the kitchen at the Governor’s Mansion.
His remarks came after reports the FBI is probing ties between the Republican governor and a top campaign donor who paid for catering at McDonnell’s daughter’s wedding.
On Tuesday, McDonnell answered tough questions on his monthly radio appearance on WTOP radio’s “Ask the Governor” segment.
A motion was filed today to dismiss the indictment against Todd Schneider, who faces embezzlement charges.
At the end of a 30-minute conference call from Asia about his current trade mission, the governor was asked about recent developments in the legal case.
There’s probably never been a bigger food fight in Virginia, certainly not one that began in the kitchen of the Governor’s Mansion.
“It was very evident that defense counsel was looking to reach beyond the embezzlement charges and instead politicize this case,” Cuccinelli spokesman Brian Gottstein wrote.
