The Richmond Education Association wants the city to fill a $15 million school budget shortfall using furloughs instead.
At a meeting this morning Mayor Dwight Jones’ Schools Accountability and Review Task Force recommend the city cut 143 positions to help plug the nearly $24 million deficit facing the city’s school system.
Concerns over the Richmond school budget dominated the conversation about the Mayor’s budget as dozens voiced their concerns about the school’s $23.8 million-dollar shortfall.
