Expect mostly cloudy skies overnight, with lows in the low to mid 30s. A cold front will move through the area a little before dawn, bringing partly cloudy and windy conditions to the area.
Strong high pressure will settle into the region Friday night, allowing temperatures to fall into the teens by Saturday morning. Skies will be mostly sunny on Saturday, with highs reaching the upper 30s and low 40s.
A storm system we have been tracking for several days is still on track to impact the area Sunday into Monday. Clouds will increase Saturday night into Sunday morning, with rain and snow moving into Virginia in the mid to late morning hours. Snow will become the main precipitation type by the time the system is winding down early Monday. Northern and western Virginia stands to get a decent snow, while areas farther south will see lighter amounts.
Cold weather will continue throughout next week, as a deep upper-level trough sends several pushes of arctic air into the region.
