You must be highly-organized, a leader in creative writing and showcasing skills, driven and able to win breaking news and big story coverage.

The ideal candidate must be calm under pressure with solid news judgment, and be able to construct an original newscast rundown with video sources, graphics, teases and pre-production effects.

Candidates should be able to present compelling story ideas in support of our brand while having substantial knowledge of local and national news. Applicants will also be responsible for updating and maintaining content and links across a number of web sites and social media platforms.

MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST — POSTED 1/31/12

WTVR CBS 6 is seeking a dynamic and innovative multimedia journalist to join the fastest growing morning team in Richmond.

Responsibilities will include reporting, shooting, writing, producing and editing news stories with assigned deadlines.

The successful candidate will produce stories that are compelling, factually correct, creative, and written in a clear, conversational manner while delivering numerous LIVE reports daily.

The multimedia journalist must develop and maintain a unique beat, working sources and contacts to produce original content.

Additional duties include:

•      Receives assignment or evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story ideas

•      Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interview, observation and research.

•      Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories

•      Edits, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms

•      Gives live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit

•      Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws

•      Is proficient and active in social media use and web updating.

Requirements of this position include:

•      Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems

•      Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment

•      Non-linear editing video experience on Final Cut Pro editing systems preferred, or similar equipment.

•      Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills

•      1-3 years of experience working as a journalist inside a television newsroom.

•      Four-year college degree (journalism preferred)

•      Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

•      Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and provide proof of insurability with company required insurance limits.
