Zach Daniel

Chief Meteorologist

Zach Daniel is the Emmy Award winning Chief Meteorologist for WTVR. His weathercasts can be seen weeknights on CBS 6 at 5, 5:30, 6, 7 and 11. Zach grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and has had a keen interest in weather since his early childhood. He's no stranger to severe and unusual weather, having spent six years working in Oklahoma City, widely regarded as the most intense weather market in the nation. He loves the challenge of forecasting the weather in Virginia and creating a weathercast that's accurate, compelling, and useful for his viewers each and every day.

Zach graduated from The University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in Geography, and earned his B.S. degree in Meteorology from The University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorology Society, and has been awarded the AMS Seal of Approval.

Zach earned an AP Award for Best Weathercast in the State of Virginia in 2007, and took home the 2008 Emmy Award for Best Weathercast. He followed his 2008 Emmy Award with the 2009 Emmy Award for Best Weather Anchor. He was honored with two more AP Awards for 2010, in the categories of Best Weathercast, and Outstanding Effort By An Individual Weathercaster. Zach most recently won the 2011 Emmy Award for Best Weather Anchor, and the 2011 Emmy Award for a Weather Special.

Zach and his wife, daughter, two sons, and two yellow labs live in Richmond's West End. When he's not working he loves playing golf, skiing, traveling, spending time with his family, and serving as a board member for the March of Dimes.
