    Virginia Tech loses ACC opener at home

    The Hokies dropped their conference opener to Pittsburgh 17-13.  VT gained just 100 yards of total offense. Richmond Spiders won their 3rd in a row, 48-17 over Maine. JMU remained unbeaten with a 38-20 over Stony Brook. William & Mary lost at the buzzer 24-23 at Delaware. VSU won their first in the CIAA 24-0 over St. Augustine. RMC lost their ODAC opener at home 31-21 to Emory & Henry.

    Virginia Tech loses at East Carolina, Vad Lee goes off at SMU

    Virginia Tech lost a 14 point lead at East Carolina 35-28. JMU stunned SMU 48-45 in Dallas.  Quarterback Vad Lee accounted for 565 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the win. William & Mary shutout Stony Brook 21-0 in their CAA opener. VSU had their 15 game CIAA conference unbeaten streak snapped at home by Fayetteville St. 33-20. VUU beat Johnson C. Smith 33-3.     VCU soccer loses heartbreaker to UVA

    The VCU soccer team team lost a tough 1-0 match to the defending National Champions, UVA. The Redskins cut former 2nd round pick David Amerson. Results from Day 2 of the UCI World Championships. The 2nd annual Wayne Samford Memorial Golf Tournament returns to Dominion Golf Club in Glen Allen.

    Big wins by State teams

    Virginia Tech beat Purdue 52-24 for their second straight win. UVA got their first win of the season, 35-29 over William & Mary. Richmond downed VMI 42-10 to improve to 2-1 on the year. JMU is 3-0 after a 42-28 win over Albany in their CAA opener. VSU beat Kentucky St. 14-7 for their second win in a row.

    Basketball Hall of Famer and Petersburg native Moses Malone died Sunday at age 60.

    UVa. loses heartbreaker to 9th ranked Notre Dame

    UVA was 12 seconds from pulling off the upset but in the end, number nine Notre Dame beat the Cavs 34-27 at Scott Stadium. Virginia Tech downed Furman 42-3. The Spiders won their first game of 2015 with a come from behind 31-28 win at Hampton. JMU improved to 2-0 with a 55-17 win over Lehigh.
