    Virginia Tech beat Cincinnati 33-17 to win this year’s Military Bowl Virginia Tech’s basketball team won their fourth in a row, 87-65 over Presbyterian. L.C Bird boys won their holiday basketball tournament, 81-54 over Highland Springs. Benedictine beat Gerstell 78-60 in the Capital City Classic.

    VCU won their third in a row by beating Cincinnati 68-47.  The Rams made 15 three-pointers. Virginia Tech got by the Citadel 64-61.

  • Latrell Scott leaves VSU for Norfolk St.

    CBS-6 Sports has learned that Latrell Scott will be named the new Head Coach at Norfolk St. University.  A press conference has been set for Tuesday morning at 11am. Scott went 19-4 in two years with the Trojans, including a perfect 15-0 record in the CIAA.  VSU make school history this season by advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time.     L.C. Bird Skyhawks soar to win third straight state football title

    L.C. Bird High School defeated Tuscarora High School 22-19 Saturday in Charlottesville to win the Group 5A state football title.

  • L.C. Bird completes the three-peat

    L.C. Bird beat Tuscarora 22-19 in the Group 5A state final for their 3rd straight state championship. Essex lost to Altavista in the Group 1A state final. VCU beat 23rd ranked Northern Iowa 93-87 in double ot. Richmond defeated Howard 54-41.  

  • UVA snaps VCU’s home winning streak

    Number seven UVA visited the Siegel Center and left with a 74-57 win over VCU to break the Rams’ 22-game winning streak. The Cavs shot 68.3% percent from the field and held VCU to just 38%.

  • L.C. Bird & Essex will play for State Titles

    L.C. Bird advanced to their 3rd straight title game with a 21-13 win over Salem. Essex will play for a state title for the 3rd straight year after a 35-13 win over Haysi.
