    In the Babe Ruth Southeast Regional Final at RF&P Park, Glen Allen 10U lost to Manatee 1-0.  Glen Allen advanced to the final earlier in the day after beating West Raleigh 5-2.

  • Dinwiddie Dixie Angels heading to the show

    The Dinwiddie Dixie Angels won the District One Dixie Youth State Softball Title and will play in the World Series next week in Monroe, LA. Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden has arguably the best Offensive Line Coach on his staff this season. Former Richmond Spiders Head Basketball Coach Dick Tarrant will have the floor at the Robins Center named in his honor. The Westwood Club won the James River Aquatic Club Championship for the third time in five years.  

  • Lakeside’s Kayla Stephens advances to National Finals at MLB’s All-Star Game

    Eight year old Kayla Stephens, a first baseman on the Lakeside Youth All-Star Team has reached the National Finals of Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit and Run competition. Stephens won her age division for girls at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. last month and is going to the MLB’s All-Star Game in Cincinnati next week for the National Championship in her division.  

  • Former NFL standout returns to hometown for an inspiring visit

    Former Highland Spring and NFL standout Emanuel McNeil returned to Richmond for his Celebrity Golf Classic Weekend and visited to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The Flying Squirrels snapped their two-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over Harrisburg.

    The Washington Redskins lost their trademark as a federal judge canceled the team’s registration. The Flying Squirrels lost their second straight to Harrisburg 3-1.  They have scored just two runs in the last 22 innings. Former Richmond Spider Matt Dacey signed his pro contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. Former UVA star Justin Anderson is officially introduced as a Dallas Maverick.

  • FC Barcelona holds 1st soccer camp in Richmond

    The Flying Squirrels lost to Harrisburg 2-1 in 13 innings to have their three game winning streak snapped. Brandon Crawford and Joe Panik…two former Flying Squirrels…were picked to the National League All-Star team. UVA Men’s Basketball Coach Tony Bennett got a raise on his seven year contract. FC Barcelona held their first ever soccer camp in the US at the River City Sportplex.

  • Raiders fall in PIFL Title Game, Squirrels get the sweep at home

    The Richmond Raiders lost in the PIFL Title game at Columbus 64-38. The Flying Squirrels beat Akron 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep at home. Austin Dillon hopes his horrific crash at Daytona will open some eyes in NASCAR and create more changes to make the sport safer.

  • Anderson ready for NBA opportunity

    Former UVA standout Justin Anderson saw his life change this week when the Dallas Mavericks selected him 21st overall in Thursday’s NBA Draft…becoming the first Cav taken in the first round in 20 years.  That night….Anderson celebrated with family and close friends…today…his hometown fans got a chance to say congratulations to him.
