    The Atlantic 10 standings shook up some after Richmond lost their share of first place after George Mason beat the Spiders 82-77.  Marquise Moore scored a game high 25 points for the Patriots, who shot 57% from the field in the first half.     L.C. Bird gives Trinity 1st loss of the year

    In a battle of the last two undefeated High School teams in the state, it was L.C. Bird that remains undefeated as they beat Trinity 64-59 in front of a sold out house in Chester. Cam Henry led four Skyhawks in double figures with 16.  Jaylen Dillard added 13 as L.C. Bird improved to 13-0 with the win. Armando Bacot led all scorers with 23 for the Titans who fell to 18-1 on the season.

    De’Monte Buckingham Headband Day at UR

    Richmond Spiders freshman and former Henrico standout De’Monte Buckingham has played well during the last month. He was named A-10 Rookie of the week twice in the last four weeks. On Sunday, Buckingham will play against George Mason on “De’Monte Buckingham Headband Day.” We caught up with the Spiders freshman to see how did the headband phenomenon start.

    VCU and Richmond start A-10 play 2-0

    The VCU Rams got a career high 23 points from Samir Doughty, who led five players in double figures as they beat Duquesne 94-87.  VCU starts the A-10 year with two straight road wins. Richmond got a career performance from De’Monte Buckingham as the Spiders open conference play 2-0 with a 80-72 win over Fordham.  Buckingham, the former Henrico star, scored a career high 22 points to lead four players in double figures.

    The VCU Rams were looking for a signature win this season and they got it after they beat Middle Tennessee State 80-77 behind 20 points from JeQuan Lewis.     Schor wins the Dudley, Frazier wins the Lanier Award

    At the Hilton Short Pump, JMU quarterback Bryan Schor was honored with the 2016 Dudley Award.  The school has won four straight Dudley Awards, the second longest streak since the award’s inception. More history was made as Virginia State’s defensive lineman Bryant Frazier became the first defensive player to win the Willie Lanier Award.  Frazier also became the first player from VSU to win this honor.
