  • UVA starts ACC Tournament with a different mentality

    UVA will play in the ACC Tournament Tuesday morning against last year’s champs Georgia Tech. VCU starts the A-10 Tournament Wednesday afternoon against Davidson as arguably the hottest team in the conference. Richmond’s road to a A-10 conference title begins Wednesday morning against George Washington. Flying Squirrels lost at Erie 10-6. Australian Minjee Lee won her first LPGA tour event at the Kingsmill Championship by two shots.

    The LPGA Kingsmill Championship will be decided on Monday after darkness suspended the final round in Williamsburg.  Australian Minjee Lee leads by four shots with three holes to play.   • Kurt Busch wins Toyota Owners 400 at RIR

    Kurt Busch snapped a 35 race winless drought at Richmond International Raceway by winning the Toyota Owners 400. The Flying Squirrels losing streak is at nine after an 8-6 loss to New Britain. Randolph-Macon won the school’s first ODAC Softball tournament title after a 7-1 win over Lynchburg.

  • Rain forces NASCAR to postpone race at RIR to Sunday

    Mother Nature wreaked havoc on NASCAR for the second straight week as rain postponed the Toyota Owners 400 at RIR to Sunday afternoon at 1pm.  Lane Casadonte found out what went into their decision.   • Defending Kingsmill Champion excited about returning to Williamsburg

    Our Lane Casadonte reports from Williamsburg on how Lizette Salas is ready to defend her Kingsmill Championship. Chesterfield’s Denny Hamlin has been cleared to race this Saturday at RIR. VUU named former Panthers player Jay Butler as their new men’s basketball coach. Robbie St. John resigned as the boys basketball coach at Hopewell. The Voice of the Hokies, Bill Roth, will be the voice of the U.C.L.A Bruins.

  • UVA’s Spring Game provides few answers

    UVA will go into the fall without a true number one QB.  Both Greyson Lambert and Matt Johns played during the Cavs Spring Game and went a combined 17-37 for 145 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 int.  Head Coach Mike London did not name a starter going into the fall. UR Head Coach Danny Rocco says quarterback Kyle Lauletta has the upper hand on the quarterback job going into the falll after the Spiders Spring Game.    

  • Squirrels score a season-high in runs and UVA’s Justin Anderson will turn pro

    The Flying Squirrels scored a season high 10 runs in a 10-3 win over Altoona. UVA’s Justin Anderson will forgo his senior season at UVA and enter this year’s NBA draft. VCU’s Justin Tillman has asked for his release from the school and intends on transferring. Rams’ Head Coach Will Wade hires another assistant in from UTC assistant Wes Long. Former VCU Head Coach Anthony Grant returns to Florida as an assistant coach.
