    CBS-6 Sports has learned that Latrell Scott will be named the new Head Coach at Norfolk St. University.  A press conference has been set for Tuesday morning at 11am.     L.C. Bird Skyhawks soar to win third straight state football title

    L.C. Bird High School defeated Tuscarora High School 22-19 Saturday in Charlottesville to win the Group 5A state football title.

  • L.C. Bird completes the three-peat

    L.C. Bird beat Tuscarora 22-19 in the Group 5A state final for their 3rd straight state championship. Essex lost to Altavista in the Group 1A state final. VCU beat 23rd ranked Northern Iowa 93-87 in double ot. Richmond defeated Howard 54-41.  

  • UVA snaps VCU’s home winning streak

    Number seven UVA visited the Siegel Center and left with a 74-57 win over VCU to break the Rams’ 22-game winning streak. The Cavs shot 68.3% percent from the field and held VCU to just 38%.

  • L.C. Bird & Essex will play for State Titles

    L.C. Bird advanced to their 3rd straight title game with a 21-13 win over Salem. Essex will play for a state title for the 3rd straight year after a 35-13 win over Haysi.  

  • VSU’s postseason run ends

    VSU fell in the Division II playoffs 35-14 at Bloomsburg. Petersburg was defeated by Lafayette 42-8 in the Group 3A state quarterfinals. VCU lost at ODU73-67. Richmond advanced to round two of the 1-AA playoffs with a 46-24 win over Morgan St. Liberty won their first playoff game, 26-20 over JMU.

    The Trojans defeated Long Island University- Post 28 - 17.

  • Spiders bring back the Capital Cup, VSU wins first ever Playoff game

    The Richmond Spiders beat William & Mary 34-20 and take the Capital Cup for the third straight year. JMU beat Elon 59-27 for their seventh win in a row. VSU defeated LIU-Post of New York 28-17 for their first Division II playoff win. Virginia Tech lost at Wake 6-3 in double overtime. UVA thumped Miami 30-13.     The Rams guard had 18 points, nine steals, eight rebounds and seven assists in his season-debut.

  • Spiders’ senior day ruined by JMU, Trojans win CIAA Title

    Richmond lost on Senior Day to JMU 55-20. William & Mary won their 2nd straight, 37-14 over Towson. VSU won their first CIAA title since 1996 with a 21-17 win over WSSU. Virginia Tech snapped their three game losing streak, 17-16 at #21 Duke. Randolph-Macon won “The Game” at Hampden-Sydney 24-10. Benedictine won their first VISAA Division state title since 2001 with a 23-7 win over Bishop Ireton.
