    Hokies lose in Beamer’s last home game, Spiders win CAA automatic bid

    Frank Beamer’s final home game at Lane Stadium ended with a 30-27 overtime loss to 17th ranked North Carolina.  Virginia Tech rallied from down 14 in the fourth to tie the game at 24 to send it into OT.   Quarterback Michael Brewer was 20-35 for 273 yards, 2 td’s and 2 int’s.  Marquise Williams led the Tar Heels to a game winning touchdown in the first overtime to end the cinderella story.     Spiders take down Wake, Hokies win their first of 2015

    T.J. Cline led five players in double figures with 19 as the Richmond Spiders won at Wake Forest 91-82.  Former Benedictine standout Trey Davis added a career high 17 along with six rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block.  The Spiders won their fourth game over Wake in the last six games.     Virginia Union is heading to the NCAA’s

    For the first time in 24 years, Virginia Union will be dancing in November.  The Panthers are heading to the NCAA Division II playoffs after finishing the regular season 8-2. VUU received the number seven seed in the Super Region One Bracket and will play at Slippery Rock this Saturday at 12 noon.  This has been a quick turnaround under Head Coach Mark James and according to the former Panther player, they all will enjoy this year’s success.

    The Richmond Spiders lost at Villanova 21-20 to fall out of first in the CAA. William and Mary has sole possession of the top spot in the Colonial after a 31-17 win over Towson. JMU rallied to beat Delaware 24-21. UVA dropped to 3-7 after a 38-31 loss at Louisville.  They are not bowl eligible for the fourth straight year.     Spiders fall at New Hampshire, VUU wins I-95 rivalry

    Richmond had their seven game winning streak snapped at New Hampshire 30-25. William & Mary won their 5th in a row, 34-13 at Elon. VUU rallied from 17 down to beat VSU 28-27. UVA lost their 14th straight road game 27-21 at Miami. In High School Football, Collegiate defeated St. Christopher’s 20-18.
