  • UVA stays undefeated with a late rally at Virginia Tech

    Number two ranked UVA rallied from 10 down midway in the second half at Virginia Tech to beat the Hokies 50-47 to improve to 19-0 on the year and 7-0 in the ACC.  The Cavaliers won their sixth in a row in the series and fifth straight at Cassell Coliseum.  The Hokies have lost seven in a row and winless in the conference at 0-6.   • CIAA holds bowling tournament in Richmond

    The CIAA wrapped up their second conference bowling event at Bowl America in Midlothian.  It was a three-day event featuring all of the schools in the conference to include Virginia State and Virginia Union.  VSU had three bowlers place in the top eight in the tournament led by Rebecca Clements, who bowled an average of 183.90.  Richmond native Shayla Lightfoot, ranked sixth in the nation from Bowie State, was second with an average of 185.  

  • Spiders can’t hold lead on the road, R-MC continues to roll at home

    The Richmond Spiders were unable to win their first true road game of the year as 22nd ranked Dayton beat them 63-60.   T.J. Cline led four Richmond players in double figures with 14.  The Spiders shot 55.6 percent in the second half but it wasn’t enough as they fell to 10-9 on the season.  It’s the fourth time in the last five road games that Richmond has lost by five or fewer points.   • Big-shot Brad receives highest honor, RMC remains unbeaten in ODAC

    Former Benedictine and VCU star Bradford Burgess will have his number 20 jersey retired by VCU on February 21st just before their game against UMass.  Burgess is 4th in school history with 1,684 points and helped lead the Rams to the Final Four in 2011.  He is just the fifth male in VCU history to have his jersey retired.   • VCU, UR and UVA win on Saturday

    VCU won their 10th straight with a 70-64 win over Duquesne.  Rams’ leading scorer Treveon Graham didn’t play after suffering a sprained ankle in the Rhode Island win.  JeQuan Lewis had a team high 16 while Melvin Johnson added 14  as the Rams improved to 5-0 in the A-10.     Number three UVA defeated 13th ranked Notre Dame 62-56 to stay unbeaten at 15-0.

  • VCU wins A-10 opener

    The VCU Rams won their A-10 opener over Fordham 75-58. Richmond’s women’s team lost their conference opener in overtime, 65-64 at Fordham. UVA’s women won at Virginia Tech 62-47.  

  • Virginia survives scare at Miami to remain unbeaten

    The Cavaliers and Hurricanes battled into double overtime.

  • Spiders name a new OC, UR’s basketball team starts A-10 play

    The Richmond Spiders named former WSSU Offensive Coordinator Steed Lobotzke as their new OC. Spiders basketball team starts A-10 play on the road against Davidson. Virginia Tech suspended Joey Van Zegeren indefinitely.

  • Spiders fall at home, Haslett out in D.C.

    The Richmond Spiders lost in the final seconds again, this time to Northeastern 58-57. The Redskins have released Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett.

    Third ranked UVA remain undefeated with an 83-72 win over Davidson. Virginia Tech fell at 17th ranked West Virginia 82-51. Randolph-Macon won at home over Baruch 80-65
