Robert Hughes has been with CBS6 News for 12 years now. Prior to that Robert was a Weekend Assignment Editor with KENS-TV in San Antonio, Texas.

Robert has been a part of every major event in Central Virginia since arriving in Richmond in August of 2000; including hurricanes Isabel and Irene; Virginia Tech and Harvey Family Massacres; D.C. Sniper Case and 9/11 just to name a few.

Among Robert’s main responsibilities are working with reporters, photojournalists and producers to make sure they are getting all the information they need in order to bring Central Virginians the best news coverage around.

Robert also is the coordinator for the station’s inclement weather system keeping people updated on the latest closures and delays around Central Virginia.

Robert not only works with staff from the CBS6 Newsroom but with other stations from around the region and around the country. He also works with outside outlets looking for video from CBS6 and outlets looking to use the CBS6 studio.

Robert is a 1999 graduate of Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in Political Science.

Robert is single and has one son, Adrian. In his spare time he likes to read, cook and loves salsa dancing.
