Raymond Hawkes

Traffic Reporter/Assignment Editor

Raymond Hawkes joined the CBS 6 News Team in June 2008, but has worked at CBS 6 since November 2005. He serves as a Beat the Traffic reporter and also covers live events around Richmond.

Raymond is a native of Richmond, Virginia and fell in love with television when he was in the 4th grade - after being interviewed by former CBS 6 reporter Michael Ford. After graduating from Monacan High School in Chesterfield County, he continued his education at Virginia Union University where he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communication.

While attending VUU he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, "The VUU Informer". He also worked on the university radio station 88.1FM, "The Voice," as a disc jockey and reported for VUU's Camera One, a student-run broadcast for PBS.

When not on-air, Raymond runs the night-side assignment desk which is responsible for assisting in development, planning and follow up of all possible stories for CBS 6 News and runs the daily afternoon story meeting, supplying a list of stories for our reporters, photographers and producers.

In his spare time, you can find Raymond reading a good book, working out, taking in the sights and sounds of Richmond's nightlife, hanging out with family and friends. Raymond loves hearing from viewers, so feel free to email him with exciting news stories at rhawkes@wtvr.com.
