Weekend Events: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — There are a lot of celebrations taking place this weekend and many of them are in honor of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday.

The 7th Annual Westchester Shamrock 5K and Kids 1K Fun Run
Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
Westchester Commons Shopping Center located off Route 288 and Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County

New this year – A 5K Race Course, a Kids 1K Fun Run Course, and a new Event Area, at The Village Green at Westchester Commons. Free admission to the festivities encourages spectators to stroll the event area, enjoying food, kids’ activities, music, and entertainment. The Bon Secours Health & Fitness Zone provides helpful tips and information, giveaways, samples and more.  Meet CBS 6 News’ Bill Fitzgerald, who will emcee the event. 9th annual St. Paddy’s Palooza
Saturday  from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Innsbrook Pavilion
4901 Lake Brook Drive in Glen Allen

The Innsbrook Pavilion will have the luck of the Irish with food, live music, a KidsZone with pony rides, face painting, a bouncy house, and a petting zoo. Enjoy authentic bagpipers followed by live bands, and craft beers or wine and enter the Hot Air Balloon Cave. St. Paddy’s Palooza benefits the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a not-for-profit organization raising funds to help find cures for children with cancer. Participates will be Going BALD for the cause and shaving their heads. For more details click here.

Shamrock The Block

Shamrock The Block takes place on The Boulevard from Leigh Street (by Movieland Theater) to Broad Street from 12pm-6pm, live music, food, fun…..It’s free to attend, though food and drinks are not. There will be ATM’s on site and some vendors may accept credit cards. KIDS AREA with face-painting, bounces, games and more. Come early though, as some lines can get long. For details click here.

The Southern Women’s Show is Richmond’s favorite event for women, where ladies can shop, sample, and share the fun over a three-day weekend. The Southern Women’s Show features more than 300 exhibitors covering food, fashion, health, beauty, fitness, lifestyle and more. Admission, hours and other details click here.  Interior designer Vern Yip of TLC’s “Trading Spaces” is the show’s headliner. He appears on the James River Air Fashion & Entertainment Stage Saturday, March 17 at 1 PM to share design advice and offer a glimpse into what viewers can expect from the new season of “Trading Spaces.”

Future Event:

The Greater Richmond ARC’s annual Ladybug Fund Winetasting & Silent Auction is slated for March 24,  at the Torque Club, Richmond Raceway Complex, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit children served through ARC programs, including Infant and Child Development Services, Summer Camp and Respite Services, and Afterschool. The event features 12 winetasting stations featuring West Coast wines, courtesy of wine educator Thom Horsey, and Virginian wines courtesy of Valley Road Vineyards. Craft beer from Midnight Brewery will also be on hand, as well as fine fare from Mosaic Catering. Notable silent auction items include the chance to bid on throwing out the “first pitch” at a Flying Squirrels game; a catered dinner for ten by The Sharper Palate; NASCAR tickets; jewelry, art, and more.
