Students safe after fire at Seven Pines Elementary

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- All students are safe and accounted for after a fire broke out in a building under renovation at Seven Pines Elementary School in eastern Henrico Thursday morning.

Officials said the fire started in a vacant building on the property just before 8:30 a.m.

That building was was filled with flames and heavy smoke.

"The fire was contained to just one building which at the time of the fire was vacant with no students or faculty, in that building,” Henrico Division of Fire Assistant Chief Chris Buehren said.

"Students from the 'E' building, which is 4th and 5th grade, were moved to the cafeteria," Henrico Schools spokesperson Andy Jenks said. "All students are safe and accounted for, and the school day is moving along on schedule."

Fire officials are investigating what sparked the fire.
