CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Richmond teenager was arrested and charged with murder, hours after a Chesterfield man was killed feet from his home. James Williams, Jr., 18, of the 1100 block of Sumpter Street, was also involved in a shootout with Richmond Police on Thursday, those Crime Insider sources added.

Basheed I. Boatwright, 36, was shot and killed early Thursday morning in the driveway of a home on Eureka Drive.

Crime Insider sources confirmed police were looking for a silver SUV seen leaving the area following the Boatwright shooting.

Those sources confirmed people in the same SUV were involved in shootings later Thursday morning on Stockton Street in Richmond, in Gilpin Court, and a shootout with Richmond Police on 4th Avenue.

Williams, according to sources, got out of the vehicle and opened fire on police. No officers were struck. Police returned fire, injuring Williams.

Court documents showed Williams was arrested and charged Thursday with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A Chesterfield court clerk said Williams was currently "orange carded" and at VCU Medical Center. Orange carded is a term that indicates a prisoner is at the hospital and not in jail.

A second person who ran from the vehicle on 4th venue was also arrested. That person's name not yet been released.

Police have not confirmed whether the recent shootings were connected.

No one answered the door when CBS 6 knocked at Williams' home.

Remembering Basheed Boatwright

Basheed Boatwright's aunt Gwendolyn said her nephew was coming home from work as a cook prior to the shooting.

Basheed was being dropped off by a coworker when he was shot in the driveway of the Aldwell Drive home he shares with his sister.

She said he then stumbled to his cousin's home on nearby Eureka Drive begging for help.

"Any given day anyone can walk outside, whether it's morning, noon or night and get show. Whether it's malicious or accidentally, I think it's getting out of hand," she said.

It's unclear why Basheed was targeted.

The Boatwright family said they felt relieved that someone was in custody for killing the man known by others as "Billy."
