Victim dragged during Petersburg carjacking remains unconscious

PETERSBURG, Va. – Authorities are asking for the public’s help as a Petersburg cajacking victims remains hospitalized.

The incident happened when a suspect stole the victim’s pickup truck in the 1700 block of Boydton Plank Road reportedly around 9:59 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Emanuel Chambliss with Petersburg Police said Friday evening that the victim remains unconscious, but is in stable condition at an area hospital.

Chambliss said the victim’s injuries were likely sustained when they were dragged holding onto the pickup.

Petersburg Police and Virginia State Police are conducting a joint investigation.

“We are still asking that anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact either agency,” Chambliss said.

Sources said the vehicle stolen was a 2016 Dodge pickup truck, white in color, VA Registration VXZ3294.
