RICHMOND, Va. -- While most kids around the nation look forward to school lunch, for some kids in Central Virginia lunch is the only time they can really count on a meal.

Life Church RVAgoes the extra mile to make sure students have food at home. The church partnered with Boushall Middle School to help feed kids in need.

Filling bags with food for kids in need

Every Thursday, volunteers fill backpacks with non-perishable food items to help get kids through the week. The church and school identified kids most in need of the items.

Candace Burns was inspired to help their cause, so she went grocery shopping for the church. She presented the groceries and a gift card to them, for around $600 total, to help with the program.

The volunteers were thrilled to have the help.
