MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — The Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating after a fire broke out inside of a Mechanicsville restaurant Saturday morning.
Crews were dispatched to the Mexico Restaurant on the 7100 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for a report of a structure fire just after 9 a.m. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke coming from inside the restaurant and, after making a complete search of the building, determined that no one was trapped.
Crews then aggressively located and extinguished the fire. The incident was reported under control at 9:24 a.m.
The westbound lanes of Route 360 were initially closed during the operation but have since been reopened to traffic.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
