RICHMOND, Va. -- An upper-level trough will become sheared as it moves Southeast, resulting in an extending period of lift across the region Friday into Saturday.

The air mass will be supportive of a snow/sleet mix Friday afternoon and evening, with light snow possible into the day Saturday.

Sunday and Monday will be dry and cold days, with lows in the mid 20s and highs in the mid 40s under partly cloudy skies.

Another surge of cold air will arrive next Tuesday, bringing a slight chance for a few flurries followed by even colder air.

Highs on Wednesday might not get above freezing in some areas of the Virginia Piedmont.
