HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — A child and an adult were injured in separate incidents at the Mechanicsville Christmas Parade.

“One incident, at approximately 3 p.m. on Atlee Road, involved an adult walking in front of a parade float. Their pants leg was pulled by the fender of a parade float, causing them to fall. The initial report of the parade float running over the adult was incorrect,” a Hanover Fire and EMS spokesperson said. “The adult sustained a leg injury and was transported to a local area hospital.”

The second incident, according to Hanover Fire and EMS, involved a child on Strain Avenue.

“[The child], who was running, fell and sustained a minor injury. The child was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation,” the spokesperson said.

A Hanover Fir and EMS spokesperson had previously reported the child had fallen off the float, but after further investigation, determined that was not the case.
