RICHMOND, Va. -- There will be a major change in the weather for the second half of the week, as much colder weather takes over.

Highs will be in the low and mid 40s, with lows in the 20s.

Our computer models continue to suggest the front may slow down as it moves off the coast, potentially enabling an area of low pressure developing along it to bring some precipitation to the Mid-Atlantic on Friday.

It appears the atmosphere would be marginally cold enough to produce some snow, so our outlook includes the threat (only 30 percent at this time) for some light mixed rain and snow to finish out the week.

However, with the developing pattern this system may end up being too far east of us to produce any measurable precipitation.

A secondary surge of cold air will follow for the weekend, and a few flurries may pass over the region on Saturday.

Highs will be in the low to mid 40s and all signs point to the cold weather sticking around into next week.
