CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A driver was killed early Saturday morning after a crash on Ramblewood Road in Chester, according to Chesterfield Police investigators.
Police were called to Willowynde Road, near Old Bermuda Hundred Road, at about 1 a.m. to investigate reports of an erratic driver, a police spokesperson said.
"Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop," a police spokesperson said. "The driver failed to stop, leading the police on a short vehicle pursuit before the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree."
The driver was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
The name of the driver will be released after next of kin is notified.
The investigation into the crash remains on-going.
