Bill Fitzgerald surprises dad, adopted sons with early Christmas gifts

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- November is National Adoption Month. In the "30 Kids in 30 Days” series, CBS 6 highlights children who are looking for permanent, loving homes.

The Farmer family is one of those families.

Barry Farmer has adopted three boys and so Anchor Bill Fitzgerald visited his family in Chesterfield to help them get the Christmas season started with a gift card for each of the boys.

"We want to give you all a little gift that may help you get your Christmas shopping started, or maybe help you get yourself that you want to get," said Fitzgerald.

"All we ask is that in some point in the future, that you give back to the community. That you pay it forward,” added Fitzgerald.

The profile on the Farmer family will air on Thurs, Nov 30, the final day of "30 Kids in 30 Days."

The CBS 6 Month of Giving is underway. Every day through December, a CBS 6 team member will surprise someone in the community with a random act of kindness.

The CBS 6 Month of Giving is possible due to a partnership with Union Bank and Trust.
