73-year-old woman killed after striking tree in Lancaster crash

LANCASTER COUNTY, Va. — A 73-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash after she ran off the road and struck a tree in Lancaster County.

The victim has been identified as Nancy D. Chillton, of Lancaster County.

State Police said the crash happened at approximately 1:35 p.m., on Rt. 201 (White Chapel).

Investigators say a 2006 Honda Accord operated by Chillton was traveling on Rt. 201, when it veered left crossing center line and ran off road left striking a tree.

Chillton, who was the sole occupant of the car, was transported to Rappahannock General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

She was wearing her seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
