DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- A man was taken into custody after an hour-long standoff outside a Dinwiddie County home Thursday night, according to Crime Insider sources. Those sources said Virginia State Police and Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 20500 block of Harris Road.

A woman there had barricaded herself and some children inside the home, while her intoxicated husband was outside firing gunshots, those sources indicated.

The husband and wife had been arguing, deputies on scene said.

After an hour-long standoff, investigators were able to peacefully take the man into custody. He has been arrested for domestic assault and reckless handling of a firearm, according to the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office.
