Firefighters able to save some pets in Chesterfield house fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. —  Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 6300 block of Dorius Drive in Chesterfield. When firefighters arrived, they spotted heavy smoke coming from the rear and the side of the house.

Fire crews rescued several animals from house fire on Dorius Drive and transported them to animal hospital.

Firefighters entered the home and rescued a dog, two cats, and five pet rats. All the pets were treated on scene and transported to a local veterinarian.

Two other cats are unaccounted for and one cat was found deceased in the house. It took crews approximately thirty-five minutes to get the fire under control.
