HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Freeman High School was evacuated Thursday morning after "multiple notes of a threatening nature" were discovered in school bathrooms, according to a Henrico Schools spokesperson.

“The kids were evacuated to the football field, and at that point they were moved to the baseball field because some of the kids were carrying bookbags,” said Lt. Anthony Mehfoud.

Police said students were then sent to the gym after that area was cleared.

During the investigation, both Henrico and Richmond EOD dogs were called in to search parts of the school.

“They’re looking for any kind of items that are out of place,” said Lt. Mehfoud.

Daniel Schier, who was late to school Thursday morning and couldn’t get in, said the threatening note was circulating on Snapchat.

“Someone took a picture and started sharing it, and somehow the administrators got in touch with it,” he said.

Students were taken to the athletic fields as a precaution. Students and staff stayed on the fields around two hours until the situation was resolved.

An all clear was given, according to spokesman Andy Jenks, and students returned to class a little before 1 p.m.

"We’d like to commend the way our students and staff handled today’s events, including those folks who stopped by with water to help keep everyone hydrated," Jenks added.

No one was reported injured and no charges have been filed.
