NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — A two-vehicle accident closed Interstate 64 west, near New Kent Highway, in New Kent County on Tuesday afternoon.
VCU LifeEvac responded to the crash and Virginia State Police said at least one person involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries.
“All lanes are now open,” VDOT advised at 2:30 p.m. “A 3.5 mile backup remains eastbound and a 6.5 mile backup remains westbound.”
One vehicle crossed the median and struck the other, Virginia State Police Sgt. Steve Vick said.
